About the Retreat
Join Sam and Bek at a beautiful beach house, positioned a stone’s throw away from tranquil Callala Beach on the South Coast of New South Wales.
Indulge in this two-night Sandy Scandi Winter Retreat! Explore various practices and build a toolkit to help keep the winter blues at bay.
At the heart of this retreat is “hygge”. Leaning into their respective Scandinavian heritages, Sam and Bek will help you to understand how to incorporate hygge into your life and make the most of your winter months.
It can be difficult to define hygge, but the definition is of least importance – you know hygge when you feel it. Hygge is a Danish word, and is a practice that is used all over Scandinavia to cultivate and maintain happiness; particularly through their long, dark winters. Some of its key ingredients are togetherness, relaxation, indulgence, presence and comfort. As Meik Wiking explains in his (brilliant) book The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living “the true essence of hygge is the pursuit of everyday happiness and its basically like a hug, just without the physical touch”.
